Taonga became only the second woman to hold the championship after finally defeating her long time rival Gia Adams at Anniversary V on July 1st 2022.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all championships were vacated. After the restart, former champion Gia Adams regained the BWR Women's Championship at Anniversary IV on 23rd July 2021.

Gia Adams became the very first BWR Women’s Champion at the all-women's show Rise Of The Valkyries on 12th October 2019. Gia defeated the legendary Sweet Saraya Knight in the tournament final to become the inaugural BWR Women’s Champion.
